Trying to find one of these little hamsters is not easy!! If you haven’t heard of Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters yet, you soon will, because the cuddly toys are being pitched as the “it” toy for Christmas 2009.
I have two 5 year-old goddaughters whose birthdays are in October, and since I’m not real ‘up’ on what the current ‘cool toys’ are, I asked you all for suggestions. Thanks to the lady who filled me in about Zhu Zhu Pets!
Zhu Zhu Pets are interactive toy pets that look and feel just like a real hamster, but there’s no mess! There are 4 different hamsters, each with their own set of over 40 sound effects, squeaks, chirps, etc.
They even have a Zhu Zhu Network which has the latest Zhu Zhu news, videos, podcasts, games and blog posts. They sound great, but there’s just one problem…
I am having the hardest time finding these darn hamsters! They sell out the minute they hit the shelves.
Walmart & Toys R Us are the only places that sell them around here, but they’re constantly sold out! The employees told me that the best thing to do is to call them in the morning to see if they got a shipment in that day, and if so, get there as soon as the doors open. Also, the website says that Hallmark sells them, but the Hallmarks in Columbia said they don’t have them.
Amazon.com sells them too, but they’re usually overpriced. These Zhu Zhu Pets only cost 8 or 10 bucks, so it’s hard to justify spending $35-45 for one! (But of course we’ll be spending more than that after we get all of the playsets and accessories.)
Good luck with finding your child’s next MUST HAVE. I’m gonna try my hardest, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get my hands on 2 of these squirly hamsters!
