The Summer of ‘08 is going to be great…

It happens every 4 years…the Olympics are back, yeah!  Starting August 8th, the eyes of the world focus on Beijing. What stories will come from the Games of the XXIX Olympiad?  How ’bout the stories leading up to the Olympics.

Can Michael Phelps tie or break Mark Spitz’ Olympic record of 7 Gold Medals in swimming?  If so, do you think he’ll have a poster ala Spitz?  Sorry, no link with that famous poster – interesting.

How ’bout the amazing Dara Torres?  Will the 41 year-old mom become the fastest woman in the water as she competes against women half her age.  Btw – this is her 5th Olympics.

What about the world’s fastest man, Tyson Gay?  Will he have enough time to recover from his calf strain and take the gold in the 100 meters.

Will Jeff City & Mizzou’s Christian Cantwell put the disappointment of not making the team in ‘04 behind him and let the world know he’s the baddest shot put thrower in 2008?  And how ’bout MU’s Ben Askren shocking everyone – well not himself – and making the team in free-style wrestling.

After the competition in Beijing concludes, the summer really heats up in Denver and Minneapolis for the Democratic and Republican Conventions.  Get your official gear here, DonkeyElephant.  Gotta love America!  But, if you’re a political junkie like me – I crave this stuff like a bag of WC’s at midnight - you’ll be glued to CNN, Fox, MSNBC watching each party’s nightly love fest…though it won’t be the same without Tim Russert - RIP.

I told ya, the Summer of ‘08 is gonna be Grrrrrreeeat! and that’s without talking about those other Tigers. Season starts August 30th.

That’s for another time…

What are you looking forward to the most this summer?

1) Olympics
2) Political Conventions
3) Tiger Football season opener
4) Other
