The story behind this absurd picture actually goes back a couple of years.
It started back in 2006, when most of us got our first glimpse of Carl with a shirt off, on the cover of ESPN The Magazine. I don’t know about your office, but it caused quite a stir around here, and that’s when it first hit me.
At the time I was still wearing a Cupid outfit on Valentines Day. The outfit included a bright red Union Suit with buttons down the front. I figured I could hang the suit around my waist, like Carl did with his drivers suit.
Instead of holding a helmet, I could hold my bow & arrow. Instead of a race car, the Clear 99 van.
It really was a good idea, I just never got around to it.
So this year when Carl had more topless pictures in ESPN’s Body Issue, I had another chance. I asked Brother Kenny what he thought about recreating the picture , with the same truck and a different model. He laughed. More importantly Kenny asked Carl and he laughed, so I figured we were onto something.
Long story short, the only photo shopped part of the picture is the background. I’m really leaning against the truck, which is really Carl’s. Our graphic guy did the rest. Some suggested he add a little tan, but I just didn’t see the point.
And I’m sure my mother is very proud.
Anyway, I hope it made you laugh, that’s what I was after.
