Ok. World famous might be a bit of an exaggeration, but my first batch of chili this season was the best I’ve ever made so I felt I should share it.
1 pound spicy Italian sausage (Johnsonville)
1 pound Burgers’ Smokehouse Applewood Ham (can substitute rib eye or sirloin steak)
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup bacon bits
4 cups salsa (Chi Chi’s Salsa – mild)
30 oz Hunts Tomato Sauce
8 oz Rotel sauce (opt)
48 oz mixed beans
1/4 cup chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp white pepper
1/8 Franks Hot Sauce or Cholula Hot Sauce
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 white onion
- Add all the ingredients, minus the meats, to a Crock Pot and put on high for one hour. (Stir)
- Individually, brown the meats over a skillet, then drain in a strainer and add to slow cooker.
- Once all the ingredients are in the slow cooker, then put Crock Pot on low for 4-6 hours.
When serving I’ll throw in some Colby Jack Cheese and Sour Cream every once in a while.
