My husband, Greg, killed a very nice 10 point buck the evening of opening day…and it only took 6 shots.  That morning he saw “the monster” but he was pretty far away so it was hard to tell just how big he was.  After patiently waiting it was obvious he wasn’t getting any closer, so Greg shot 4 times…and missed.  The deer didn’t seem bothered by the shots & just wandered off.  That evening Greg went back & the buck reappeared, closer this time.  Greg shot & thought he hit the deer but he didn’t fall, just turned & started to slowly walk away.  Greg shot again & the deer dropped.  When he got close enough to inspect he discovered the first shot went through the right antler (look closely at the picture & you can see the hole).  The second shot grazed the back of his head, which is an awesome shot…except for the fact that Greg was aiming for the heart!
Greg & I had our first child, a son, a few week before deer season & I guess with all the excitement, Greg forgot to sight his gun in.  It’s a little high & to the left.  ;)
