I’m never sure what to put on one of these bio pages.  I want to share, but I don’t want to bore!  Tell you what, I’ll answer a few questions that have been asked most often before.  If there’s something you want to know, email it to me!

Where are you from? Cape Girardeau, MO

What did you do before radio? Went to junior high.

Where did the “Uncle” come from? My first nephew was born, and I was on the air.  My brother called to tell me about it, and I mentioned it on the air.  A little later, a lady called to ask for a song, and she said “…thanks Uncle Scotty!”  It kinda stuck.  That nephew is going to college this year.  Oof.

Marital status? Not married, was once.

Do you really like Country Music? Yes I really do.  It’s not all I listen to, but it’s probably what I listen to most.

Do you really like dressing up in the Cupid outfit? Strangely, yes.

About me? I’m a Midwest girl from head-to-toe, born and raised in Jefferson City, MO. After graduating from Helias, I went away to school in Los Angeles for a while, which is exactly when I realized how much of a Midwest girl I really was!  I eventually made my way back to Missouri and finished school at Mizzou, graduating in 2008.

How did I wind up in radio? It’s a pretty simple story really…  I was cleaning my apartment one day, pondering the never-ending question, “What am I going to do with my life?” when I stumbled across the thought of how much I love country music.  Then I thought, “how cool it would be to somehow be involved in the country music industry?”  And since singing isn’t really an option for me, I thought I’d give radio a try.  Turns out, radio’s really fun!

I worked the weekends on Clear 99 throughout college, and joined Scotty in the mornings in July 2008.  To be a part of a station that I grew up listening to is still a little surreal for me.  I love it!  I get to listen to my favorite music all day, chit-chat with Scotty and joke around with you all each morning.  It’s great!

My absolute favorite thing about being on the radio is giving away prizes, especially big ones.  Even though I have little to do with providing the prizes, I love that I get to be the one to give it to you!  You know that feeling you get whenever your friend is about to open your present at the party?  You are anxious and excited because you know they are just going to love it!  That’s exactly what it feels like everytime we get to give a cool prize to a listener.  I get very excited!  Almost as excited as the person actually winning the prize.  Plus, people are really nice to you when you give them things.  haha!

Other random things about me:
I am a horrible decision maker; a restaurant menu choice is way too big of an ordeal for me than it should be.
I love funny people, movies and jokes!  I do NOT like scary movies.
I’m probably a little too in love with my dog Charlie.
I’m definitely not as good as my Mama, but I do love to cook.
Favorite food is nachos.  Favorite soda is Mountain Dew.
I’m a game freak! Board games, card games, iPhone games, any game… Occasionally, I get in trouble with my friends (usually Scotty) for sometimes turning things into a competition whenever they weren’t really suppose to be.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people tell me to stop holding in my sneezes.   I don’t even know how to hold in a sneeze?  Sorry, I’ve just always been a quiet sneezer.

Where did you grow up? Various “Hicktowns” in Missouri, then St. Louis.

Follow any sports teams? Are you kidding? I’m a sports nut. Cardinals, Rams, Tigers.

Hobbies? Besides watching & attending sporting events? Like to play golf, but don’t take it seriously at all. If you saw my golf game you’d know why. Love working in my backyard. Playing with my dogs, Cocoa Chenille & Charlie Bell. Attempting to duplicate the recipes from the Food Network – “30 Minute Meals”, “Everyday Italian”, “Barefoot Contessa” are my favorites & lovin’ the new one “At Home with the Neelys”.

Food weakness? Starch! I live for Starch. Pasta, Pizza, Rice, Bread. Give me Italian or Chinese 8 days a week.

Favorite places to grab a bite? Shakespeare’s for pizza – of course!  63 Diner for down-home cookin’.  Flatbranch – love their beer & bayou pasta.  Love havin’ a steak at Longhorn (I know it’s a chain, but I love their steaks!).  Not too fancy when it comes to restaurants.

Movies you can watch over & over? I’m a fan of old movies with Clark Gable, Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Jimmy Stewart.  Musicals with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby.  If I’m channel surfin’ & come across “Dumb & Dumber” I have to watch it & end up laughing as hard as the first time I saw it.  Same with “40 Year Old Virgin”.  In “Field of Dreams”, the line “Dad, wanna have a catch” makes me cry everytime.  Love “Bull Durham”…”quite acting like such guys”.  And of course, GWTW, ‘nuf said.

3 songs you never get tired hearing? Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Friends In Low Places, any Beatles song (is that more than 3?).

Favorite TV shows? Love cable.  TLC, HGTV, CNN, ESPN, Animal Planet, Food Network, and who ever is showing a Cardinals’ game.

First concert ever attended? Elvis. Okay, I was very, very, very young. The best part was the ride to the concert. My friend’s mother, who was the huge Elvis fan, had a white cadillac. My friend & I sat in the back seat eating Velveeta cheese. Elvis would have been proud!

Finally, what super power do you wish you had? To be able to clean my kitchen by wiggling my nose like Samantha in the old TV series “Bewitched”.

Drink of choice: Bud Light, Blue Moon or Tequila

Sports team: St. Louis Cardinals, baby!

What I watch:  How I Met Your Mother, Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, Storm Chasers, Ghost Hunters, Pretty much anything on Discovery or History Channel — and, of course, Cardinals baseball.

Bio:  First off, I should warn you that I’m a bit weird, but then most likely so are you:) 

My name is James P. Mac and I’m one of the lucky few who get to do what I love for a living.  It’s truly a childhood dream for me, and I feel blessed everyday to have this opportunity!  

Originally, I’m from the St. Louis area, the heart of Cardinal Nation.  Now I’m proud to be in the heart of mid-Missouri at Today’s Best Country Clear 99!

After college I joined the Peace Corps where I met Scotty, who told me about his plan to create the greatest morning show ever.  He kept yelling, “Victory is mine! Victory is mine!”

So I had to inform him that beating a legless Ethiopian down the hill for a donut isn’t in the best of taste, but he said, “Umm… Donuts are good!”

Now I’m in mid-Missouri at your hometown station Clear 99, rockin’ out with you fine folks, I do have to admit that it’s better than a real job — and even better than racing a legless Ethiopian down the hill for a donut!

I grew up in St. Charles, MO and since I was about 8-years-old, I wanted to be on the radio. I didn’t play fireman or policeman when I was young. I wanted to play professional hockey and if I couldn’t do that, radio was my second choice. I used to mute the TV at home and do the play-by-play for Cardinals and Blues games. I attended Fort Zumwalt West High School and in 2007, I graduated from the Broadcast Center and started my career in radio.

Family: Most of my family lives in the St. Charles/St. Louis area, although my mom lives waaaay up North and works at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Sports: My family and I are huge sports fans! We love the Cardinals, Rams and Blues!

Music: I grew up listening to the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, but I love all types of music. Some of my favorite Country artists are Band Perry, Josh Turner, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert.

Movies: I will be the first to admit that when I see a movie that I like, I watch it six million times. I’m a nerd in that fact that I love all the superhero movies, especially the X-Men series, Office Space, and one of my all-time favorite Jim Carey movies is Me, Myself & Irene.

I’m very close with my family, I love spending time with my kids (my son plays baseball and my daughter is in dance!) and we have two little dogs at home… Frank and Bean!

From the bicentennial to the arrival of Garth Brooks, we’ll travel down memory lane with great country music.  It’s 4 hours of Classic Clear Live Saturday mornings 6-10.
