Kevin Skinner crowned 2009 winner of “America’s Got Talent!”
35-year old unemployed farmer, Kevin Skinner was being called the American Susan Boyle.
Kevin’s first performance brought the audience to their feet. He strutted the stage in a gray wool jacket, washed up jeans, and a backwards baseball cap; he got a similar reaction to Susan Boyle from the audience and judges of “America’s Got Talent.”
But when he started to play his guitar and sing Garth Brooks’ “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and blew everyone away, including the judges.
He’d never been on a plane until he flew to LA to try out for the show. In fact, he’d never even sang outside a friend’s basement before he took the stage on national television.
Kevin’s hometown friend of 17 years, Lonnie Buckingham says “If you see him today, he’s gonna be the same way six months from now as he was six months ago. He’s just that kind of guy.” But “he’s always had that dream of making it big,” she said.
Yesterday America proved how much they loved him and crowned Kevin Skinner the 2009 winner of “America’s Got Talent.”

He is a down to earth sensation who has a voice like an angel and I would like to see him win this. He needs to sing Alan Jackson’s song, “Here in the real world” and Kris Kristofferson’s song “Loving her was easier” because he has the voice for those songs and it would put him higher up in the finals.

How can I say this without sounding like it’s hyberbole? I can’t… Skinner is destined for GREATNESS–right up there with Williams, Cash, Jennings, Nelson, Kristofferson, Travis, Brooks, Yoakam, Jackson…Just wait and see!!!!!
